Many bicycles are still missing their owners.

CrowdEyes points to the need for better digital registration and more responsible handling of abandoned bicycles and other found objects.

Copenhagen, May 10, 2026 — Copenhagen is one of the world’s most prominent cycling cities. Around 1.4 million kilometers are cycled on an average weekday, and the city is home to more than 745,000 bicycles — more bicycles than inhabitants. This is a strength for the city, but it also creates a familiar challenge: many bicycles are forgotten, abandoned, moved or have no clear owner.

The Municipality of Copenhagen regularly cleans up abandoned bicycles on public roads, squares and at stations. When a bicycle is considered abandoned, it is marked with tape. If the tape is not broken within 30 days, the bicycle can be removed and handed over to the Police. Bicycles with a value of more than 500 DKK can be sold at auction, while the rest are sent for scrap.

However, the challenge is not just a matter of cleanup. It is also about space, resources, recycling, documentation and the possibility of getting more objects back to their rightful owners.

CrowdEyes will improve the handling of forgotten items in industries with many visitors

Hotels, schools, adventure venues, sports halls, transportation, shopping centers and public institutions can save time, create better service and increase security with a digital Lost & Found solution.

Copenhagen, May 2026 – Lost items are a daily challenge for many organizations. Phones, bags, keys, jackets, headphones, sportswear, teddy bears and documents are left behind in hotels, schools, restaurants, sports halls, means of transport, cultural centres and at major events.

For the owner, this can create frustration and uncertainty. For the organization, it can mean many manual inquiries, internal coordination, storage space, time consumption and risk of errors.

CrowdEyes can reduce the hidden cost of forgotten items

New digital Lost & Found platform aims to help organizations save time, reduce manual administration and create more efficient handling of lost items.

Copenhagen, May 2026 – For many organizations, lost items are a daily operational task that often takes up more space than you might think. Phone calls, emails, postings, manual registration, internal coordination, storage, delivery and follow-up take time — and time is rarely counted as an actual cost.

CrowdEyes will make this process more efficient.

With a digital Lost & Found platform, organizations can record, manage, match, and release lost items in a more structured and documented manner. This can reduce the need for manual workflows and free up time for employees who currently spend resources searching for items, responding to inquiries, and coordinating internally.

“Forgotten items are often considered a convenience. But for organizations with many visitors, handling them can quickly become a hidden operating cost. CrowdEyes is designed to make the process simpler, faster and more transparent,” says Jann Kallehauge, initiator of CrowdEyes.

CrowdEyes wants to make forgotten objects part of the sustainable agenda

The Digital Lost & Found platform aims to help organizations get more lost items back to their owners — thereby contributing to less waste, fewer repurchases, and better utilization of resources.

Copenhagen, May 2026 – Jackets, bags, water bottles, electronics, sportswear, keys, glasses and personal belongings are forgotten every day at hotels, schools, sports halls, restaurants, events, cultural centers, transportation facilities and public institutions.

When the items are not returned to their owners, many of them end up on shelves, in storage rooms or in bags — often until they are discarded, donated or otherwise removed from the organization's premises.

CrowdEyes will help change that.

CrowdEyes is a digital Lost & Found platform that helps organizations register, manage and return lost items in a more structured, transparent and user-friendly way. The goal is simple: more things should find their way back to the people who already own them.
